Tap dance emphasizes intricate footwork and expression of rhythm through sound. The metal plates attached to the bottom of the dancers shoes create a percussive rhythm which could either accompany music, or be used as an instrument itself.
This class consists of basic tap dancing skills to warm up and strengthen ankles, and progresses through tap steps into tap combinations. Tap dance is terrific for developing coordination, agility and a sense of timing and rhythm.
Jazz dancing is a more structured stage style of dance, influenced by the musical styles of each era.
Instruction begins with basic motion and motor dance skills, and then leads into more difficult progressions, including turns, jumps and choreography.
This jazz class consists of a center floor warm-up, technique exercises, isolations and floor stretches, and ends with a routine.
Jazz helps develop coordination, flexibility, strength and placement.
